Our Story
Diversity Hair Care is a community-based organization dedicated to providing culturally inclusive hair care education, personal hygiene training, mentorship, and career exposure opportunities for justice-involved youth, foster families, and underserved communities.
Founded by licensed cosmetologist and educator Fatima Miles, Diversity Hair Care was created to bridge the gap between culture, confidence, and care — while also supporting non-Black foster parents caring for Black children and youth who have historically lacked access to proper hair care education and resources.
What began as grassroots community support has grown into a workforce development and youth mentorship initiative serving participants through partnerships with Los Angeles County agencies, schools, foster care organizations, and community partners.
Today, Diversity Hair Care provides hands-on instruction in cosmetology, barbering, skin care, hygiene, professionalism, self-care, and career readiness while promoting self-esteem, cultural connection, emotional wellness, and personal growth.
Through trauma-informed mentorship and structured programming, participants are encouraged to develop confidence, communication skills, positive self-image, and exposure to future educational and vocational pathways.
We believe that when individuals are equipped with knowledge, support, opportunity, and encouragement — confidence follows.

Our Mission is to empower justice-involved youth, foster families, and underserved communities through supportive, culturally inclusive learning environments where individuals understand that their past does not dictate their future. Through mentorship, self-care education, career exposure, and personal development, we strive to reinforce that every individuals life has value, purpose, and the ability to achieve greatness.
